Bandai’s mobile phone website, m-pub.channel.or.jp is hosting an image that reads as follows:
New Code Geass Project Launch Green-Lit!
Wait for more info in 2010!!
The image also adds that this project represents a “rebirth” and that Geass will take a new step starting today. The message is signed with the name, “ZERO.”
In the January 2009 issue of Gakken’s Animedia magazine, the Sunrise anime studio indicated the possibility of more plans for its Code Geass science-fiction franchise. Sunrise created and animated the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion television anime series and its R2 sequel. Sunrise did not indicate the format that any hypothetical future plans might take. The Adult Swim television programming block ran Bandai Entertainment’s adaptation of the R2 sequel in North America.
This is good news for all Code Geass fans! After all the petitioning, all the whining, and all the complaining, Code Geass Season 3 is finally going to hit the Green Screen. Next year is going to be an awesome year, that’s for sure. We’ll be updating everyone when any new news is released regarding Season 3. So stay tuned, and check back often!

The January issue of Kadokawa Shoten’s Newtype magazine is announcing on Thursday that Tomomasa Takuma (Code Geass: Nightmare of Nunnally, Kurogane Communication) is drawing a manga that is tentatively titled Code Geass: Shikkoku no Renya (Code Geass: Jet-Black Renya or Code Geass: Renya of the Blackness) next year. Goro Taniguchi, the director and story co-creator of the original Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion television anime series, created the new manga’s story concepts and is scripting the story. This is the first manga that Taniguchi is directly scripting himself.
The story takes place in the same official Code Geass history as the anime, but in a different era. The title character, Renya, is a 17-year-old boy with a mechanical left arm and shuriken throwing stars as his weapons of choice. The story begins when Renya encounters a mysterious, perpetually young witch named “Reifū C.C.” C.C. has appeared in Japan’s historical Edo era to seek a new partner for a covenant. Meanwhile, a mysterious man, with a striking resemblance to the character Lelouch of the original anime, also appears with unknown intentions.

i really love Code Geass season 1 and 2, this news is great awesome for me! hope to wtach it as soon as possible! ^_^
i hope the next season for the code geass would still be connected to the old seasons and the characters from the old would still be on the the third!

What concerns me most is that if the announcement truly didn’t say what format the new project would take then this “Reyna of the Blackness” manga could very well be what everyone was so excited about. And while a new manga is cool and all, it’s hardly a Season 3. There are already 4 other Code Geass manga series, and none of them have reached the same feel and atmosphere as the main anime. Incidentally, the article said “C.C. has appeared in Japan’s historical Edo era to seek…” Japan’s Edo era was 1603-1868. It doesn’t seem likely that any characters from the original series would make appearances, and while C.C. and L.L. are cool and all, they just don’t cut it as far as characters go.

I agree that R2 had a great ending but the thought of another season of code geass just gets me so excited. But if lelouch isen’t in it it won’t be code geass if you know what i mean. But if it has C3 in it ill check it out anyway ^.^ All Heil Lelouch

It’s been 8 months. Nothing came out. What if it was canceled? There are still other good anime like Gakuen Mokyshiroku: High School of the Dead. Theres also Kaichou-Wa Maid Sama Too.
I don’t think they should make a continuation, but a remake of the R2 season, still leading up to his death, but like an alternate season. That might actually be fun to watch.

For all of you simpletons who do no research and base all of their responses off of poor deductions from even poorer observations I have something to say (basically all of you who think Lelouch is alive). A while ago and I do mean a while way back when everyone started worrying over whether or not Lelouch lived, or if he was the cart driver, or if he was immortal an interview was held between a reporter and the creator of Code Geass. In his many statements he said plainly and clearly “I don’t know why people think Lelouch is alive, I designed the ending to make people think about life but I thought it was fairly clear that he was dead.” Now I may have cleaned up the English translation but the original message is still there. Lelouch is dead, yes you may have thought about it for a while however logic should have led you to the correct answer by now, and that is Lelouch died.

First off, I am laughing at everyone’s horrible English-grammar and spelling. Any computer-translation device could more precisely describe what you are trying to say.
They obviously cannot have Code Geass: LELEUCH of the Rebellion R3 without LELEUCH. Maybe some mech-technician will “rebuild” Leleuch? Or maybe Leleuch didn’t really die at the end; He is a genius. Surely he would have found a way to fake his own death? Or some ancient magic-safeguard will come into play as another witch emerges? The show would suck without him, and surely the writers of the show, who are phenominally good at their job, would find a way around the abrupt (but beautiful) ending.
